Owen ‘Blakka’ Ellis is a writer, educator, performing artist and motivational speaker who has been a part of the Caribbean arts and entertainment landscape for over three decades. He has performed at the world-famous Apollo Theater in New York, the Hackney Empire in London and at major comedy festivals all over Europe, North America and the Caribbean.

He has written for the stage, screen and television, published two books of poetry and taught in high schools and colleges in Jamaica and Canada.

His film TV credits include Warner Brothers’ ‘Club Paradise’, ABC TV’s ‘Going to Extreme, Keystone Family Picture’s ‘Spymate’ and Jamaican blockbuster ‘Dancehall Queen’.  Ellis is currently a senior lecturer in the School of Arts Management & Humanities and the Edna Manley College of the Visual & Performing Arts.
