
BRIEF BIOGRAPHY
He began his formal career with The UWI on January 1, 1999 as Project Officer in the Office of Administration and Special Initiatives (OASIs), Vice Chancellery, at Mona in Jamaica. In August 2005, he assumed the post of Resident Tutor/Head of the School of Continuing Studies (SCS) in Dominica, before becoming Director (Ag.) Open Campus Country Sites (OCCS) from August 1, 2012 to March 31, 2013. He served as Director, OCCS, from October 2013 – July 2020 before his appointment as Deputy Principal of the Open Campus in the Academic Year, August 1, 2020 – July 31, 2021.
Dr Severin graduated in 1991 from The UWI Cave Hill Campus with the B.A. in History and Social Studies with Education; and from the Mona Campus twice; firstly in 1998 with the M.Sc. in Sociology (specializing in Social Policy and Administration); and the Ph.D. in Education, in 2006.
Dr Severin served as Chair, Committee of Deans, during Academic Year 2019-2020, and was the Open Campus’ Public Orator from 2010 to 2021.
Dr. Severin is the first male to hold the Offices of Deputy Principal and Principal of the Open Campus.
