BRIEF BIOGRAPHY
Odene James – Vice President – Risk Management with oversight for ERM- Fraud – BSA- Compliance Business Continuity and Vendor Management. Coastal Credit Union – USA.
Over 20 years’ experience in the financial services industry. Her experience spans both the private and public sectors where she served in various roles at several companies including Grace Kennedy Limited, the Jamaica Co-operative Credit Union Limited (JCCUL), and the Financial Services Commission (FSC). Her most recent role was Chief Risk and Compliance Officer with EduCom Credit Union.
While at the JCCUL, she was instrumental in developing and implementing the Enterprise Risk Management and Compliance programs for the credit union movement. At the FSC, she contributed to projects of national significance such as the reformation of the retail repo market as well as the development of the Risk Based Assessment and Supervision, Liquidity and Prudential as well as Anti-Money Laundering Frameworks for the Securities, Pension, and Insurance industries. Ms. James is also a trained Financial Crisis, Business Continuity professional and contributed to guidance papers and policy development on liquidity recovery management at the national level.
Ms. James holds a Charted Banker MBA from Bangor University, UK; Post Graduate Executive Diploma in Governance, Risk and Compliance – International Compliance Association (ICA) from Manchester University School of Business, UK; a BS in Business Administration as well as a Financial Analysis Diploma from the University of the Commonwealth Caribbean (UCC); and a Financial Crisis Resolution and Regulatory Affairs Certificate from the Toronto Global Training Center, Canada.
